You have experience with data mining, don't you?
I want to determine a map's wild encounter levels and rates. I don't have RPG Maker XP, but I have the .rxdata files of each map.
Do you know the address within a map file where these values are located (or a better method to get these values)?
I'm decompiling the current version of the game right now! So far I've found encounter rates for Pokéradar exclusives, as well as some interesting stuff about how abilities affect encounter chances.
Edit: Pokémon Essentials has an... interesting way of defining encounter rates. I have all the encounter tables in plain text now, but it's gonna take me a while for me to actually pull percentage rates from it. Look at that linked article and you'll understand why.
Wow! Thanks for all these helpful responses and links! So I suppose I would need RPG Maker XP to decompile the game? That's a shame...
Those infos (Poké Radar encounter rates) are exactly what I'm looking for. Could you maybe share those plain text files?
Also, given how Essentials stores encounter rates, I'm guessing radar rates are located elsewhere?
...If I were to try out RPG Maker XP, would I be able to read the files simply by opening Uranium.rgssad? (sry for the barrage of questions)
I'm tired, so I dunno how good my explanation's gonna be, but first I started a new project in RPGMXP and saved it in its own folder. Then I used a third-party program to decrypt Uranium.rgssad, and then dropped all of the files into my project folder. Then I opened the project again, and it automatically converted most of the .dat files into readable text files. That gives you stuff like Pokémon stats, normal encounters, item data, etc. Other data, such as radar encounter rates, is found by using RPGMXP's script and map editors and just skimming through until you find what you need.
So entering a regularly colored patch of grass spawns a completely regular Pokémon? (I was hoping I'd have better chances getting a Duplicat using the Radar on Route 13.) Kind of disappointing, but good to know. Thank you!
Alright, I'm done putting everything back. I'd have to double check, but it looks like some icons in 1.0.1 are different from what's on here now. If that's the case, any objections to re-replacing them?
