Sheltered from the harsh sun and winds to the north, the forests to the south of West Tandor are a charming place. Sunlight gently sprinkles down through the forest canopy, mischievous Chyinmunk scamper in the brush, trying to stay out of sight from hungry Owten. A large lake to the west of the Route splits the path in two. If you listen carefully, you can hear the faint trickle of water bubbling up into the route's lakes and ponds from underground rivers hidden deep within Passage Cave to the north.
This is the first route that you will visit after obtaining your starter Pokémon from Professor Bamb'o. On your first visit, you'll take the main path east from Moki Town and then turn north towards Kevlar Town. Just before reaching Kevlar Town, the path will split with the main path continuing north to Kevlar Town and the second continuing past a small house. The rest of the path is blocked by a large boulder; you will need Rock Smash before you can continue this way.
Once you have defeated Maria at the Nowtoch City Gym you'll pass back along Route 1 on your way back to Moki Town. Be sure to stop in the house and talk to the fisherman to get the Old Rod, and if you've taught a Pokémon in your party Rock Smash, you can break the boulder blocking the alternate path to the east. This path also leads to Moki Town and has several stronger trainers to battle and items to find.

Fisherman's Home[]
At the north end of the route, just before Kevlar Town, you'll find the home of a local fisherman. If you pay him a visit after defeating Maria at the Nowtoch City Gym he'll give you the Old Rod as a gift.
