Route 12 is a straightforward path to the east. Several sandy beach islands allow a quiet resting destination. Situated in the middle is a large island with a high hill with a single tree, surrounded by a few tropical palm trees and sea shells, as well as a Shell Bell.
Surfin' Ninjas[]
While calmly surfing the warm ocean waters, you will quickly find out that dangers lurk below and above it.
Surfing Ninjas Ambushes
Very early entering Route 12, you will be attacked by a pair of ninja surfers.
Another sneaky duo will attack you again when you pass below the third island.
Finally, at the end of Route 12, you will face their Hokage, who is armed with high level Pokémon. After winning, he will believe you are part of some vague prophesy, awarding you the title of the new Hokage and disappearing in a puff of smoke. The other ninjas will accept you, and also vanish stealthy.
At the North side of the largest island, there is a man who will EV train your Pokémon in the HP stat for 500. In the minigame, you need to use precise timing to hit a bar so your Pokémon will hit a sandbag. When you have hit ten times your score is divided into the amount of EV points for the stat you trained.
After defeating Ninja Boss Hokage, the player is given the title of "Hokage" in reference to the manga/anime Naruto, which uses the same title for the leaders of Konohagakure, a ninja village. With the exception of Ronin, alltheother Ninja Surfers also refer to ninja ranks in Naruto.
The following are not errors in the Wiki, merely deviations from how moves are usually chosen for the Pokemon of Trainers:
Hokage's Tubareel has Crunch instead of Ice Fang and his Gyarados has Hydro Pump instead of Twister. (Unlike with many other trainers, Gyarados' moveset is actually a genuine impossibility because Magikarp cannot be bred to have Hydro Pump like most other Pokemon lines can.)
If players are too close to the edge of the map when approaching one of the Surfing Ninja ambush points, they will be moved one tile higher or lower during the flash to ensure that the ninjas don't clip into the environment.
If players have only 1 Pokemon alive/in their party, the Surfing Ninja double battles will become single battles.
