Cali is the Gym Leader of Bealbeach City's Gym, the third Gym the player must challenge. She specializes in beach-dwelling Pokémon. She gives the Tide Badge to trainers who defeat her.

In the game

Cali awaits the player's challenge in Bealbeach City's Gym. When not acting as Gym leader, she serves as a lifeguard and enjoys catching waves. Trainers who defeat Cali will receive the Tide Badge, along with TM03 (Water Pulse).

Her interest in both Pokémon Training and lifeguarding came from an experience she had as a little girl. When she was swimming alone, she was swept out to deep sea by a riptide. She thought she might drown, but then a wild Brainoar swam up underneath her and saved her life. From that day onwards, she dedicated herself to using Pokémon to protect the lives of swimmers.
