The player's journey begins in little Moki Town. Nestled among forests on the southern slope of Mt. Actinite in West Tandor, Moki Town is quiet and unassuming, with only the occasional traveler passing through on their way to either Nowtoch City to the west or Burole Town to the east.
Moki Town is home to one of the region's two Pokémon Professors, Professor Bamb'o. It is also home to the player's friend Theo and his father Cameron, a former Pokémon trainer and electrician who used to work with Lucille before the accident.
Professor Bamb'o's Laboratory is located at the top of the hill overlooking the town. The player applies for a job here and receives a starter Pokémon. The player can also come here periodically to check on their PokéDex progress and receive rewards from Professor Bamb'o for reaching certain milestones.
Player's House[]
The player's great-aunt lives here and will heal their Pokémon when the player talks to her. She gets lonely, so it is good to pay her a visit, and she'll tell the player all about what she has been up to now that they're away.
Caine residence[]
Theo, the player's rival, lives here with his dad Cameron; he will return here after battling the player in Professor Bamb'o's Lab. The player's initial dialogue with Cameron will differ depending on the outcome of the battle. If the player wins against Theo, Cameron will initially be upset with the player for hurting his son's feelings; however, once realizing that Theo is upset over losing due to the type disadvantage, he'll remind Theo that both winning and losing is a part of being a Trainer and that he should form a team that covers his starter's weaknesses. If the player loses against Theo, Cameron will be happy to see his son in such a good mood, but will also question whether the player lost on purpose. Just before Theo and the player leave on their journey, he'll bid them both good luck and give them a PokéPod from Kellyn.
The background music is Gold/Silver's Cherrygrove City theme.
Moki Town is a good place to EV Train both Special Defense (Fortog by Old Rod) and Defense (Chyinmunk in the grass).
Failing to get the Rare Candy from the NPC East of the player's house before becoming Champion will only allow you to get 1.
Choosing to skip the intro will allow you to run without needing to talk to Auntie to get the Running Shoes. Though you can run without them, if one plays through to the Championship site without ever talking to her, it will result in the item becoming unattainable.
The Chyinmunk that can be seen running around near the center of the town passes through the back part of the tree that the player go through. The player can also interact with the Chyinmunk while it's in that part of the tree, and when standing on the left side of the inaccesible portion, the Chyinmunk will phase through the player as well.
If the player interacts with the PC in Theo's bedroom, they can read a poorly written story typed up by Theo, titled "The Most Awesome Pokémon Trainer In The World!"
