Umbreon evolved from exposure to the moon's energy pulses. It lurks in darkness and waits for its foes to move. The rings on its body glow when it leaps to attack.

Umbreon has a sleek black body with four slender legs and crimson eyes. There are two pairs of pointed teeth visible when its mouth is open, one in the upper jaw and one in the lower. It has long pointed ears and a bushy tail, each with a yellow band around them. Its forehead and legs have yellow rings on them.

Habitat[]
This Pokémon is rare in the wild, and is more often found in urban areas under the care of people.
Eevee's evolutions have different priority levels. One must remove items required to evolve an Eevee into Leafeon, Glaceon, or Sylveon from an Eevee in addition to removing all Nuclear-Type Pokemon in the player's party for an Eevee to evolve into an Umbreon.

Trivia[]
Design Origin[]
According to Motofumi Fujiwara, a key person at Game Freak, Eevee was based on a vague childhood experience he had, He described seeing an "indefinable creature" and that Eevee was based on a drawing of all that he could remember of it.
Each one of Eevee's evolutions are based on the same design but are made to resemble their type.
Name Origin[]
Umbreon comes from umbra (Latin for shadow or ghost — also the term for the dark portion of an eclipse) and eon (an immeasurably long period of time, presumably in reference to the concept of evolution). Eon is also a suffix shared by all Eeveelutions and was Eevee's prototype English name.
