PALIJ's curiously-shaped feathers allow it to create friction in the air as it flaps its wings. Sparks trail off of its feathers when it flies.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Palij is a medium-sized bird Pokémon with orange feathers on its body. It has a long, multicolored plume on its head with two smaller feathers on the side. It has white feathers around its eye. Its wingtips are green and the feathers are uniquely shaped in order to create friction in the air when it flies.
Special Abilities[]
Palij's wings ignite the oxygen in the air as they fly, trailing sparks behind them as they go.
Behavior[]
Very friendly and social Pokémon. Palij are intelligent and can be taught to repeat phrases back at their trainers.
Habitat[]
In the wild, they form large flocks with others of their species. Sometimes the sparks they trail behind will set small fires, but there are always water Pokémon around to put them out.
Nuclear Palij, along with Nuclear Pahar and Nuclear Pajay, are the only Pokémon distributed as a Mystery Gift that can be encountered in Randomized Mode. Since Randomizer prevents wild Pokémon from having their Hidden Ability (except if hunted via Poké Radar), Nuclear Pahar, Nuclear Palij and Nuclear Pajay can only be encountered with the line's two regular Abilities: Flash Fire and Big Pecks.
Nuclear Palij was not obtainable through normal gameplay until 1.3.0, however, it did not have Nuclear-type moves.
Prior to 1.3.1, Nuclear Palij's only Nuclear moves were Nuclear Wind and Half-Life.
Design Origin[]
Palij is based on a parrot with elements of a phoenix.
Name Origin[]
Palij's name partly comes from an anglicization of the Spanish word pájaro, meaning bird.
